Palmaria are a song writing duo from a small town in Italy, that have made London their home for creating their distinctive brand of Alt Pop.
Their music transports the audience on a journey of dreamy landscapes and uplifting rhythms, with their exotic guitar layers and warm, soft vocal melodies. Think The xx meet Metronomy on a trip to the Italian coast.
The duo first graced the airwaves in 2017 with their debut EP ‘Swim’. The project has since racked up over 1 Million streams on Spotify and had support from the likes of Complex, Clash, BBC 6 Music and more.
In 2019, Giulia and Francesco took their art to the next level with a string of single releases that were supported on a number of editorial Spotify playlists like Alternative R&B, Alt Pop etc.
This led to support from BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Introducing London, Earmilk, Atwood Magazine.
In June, their first London headline show at Servant Jazz Quarters was a huge success, selling out weeks in advance. In the following months, their music has been featured in H&M, Starbucks, and playlisted by COLORS Berlin.
After an exciting summer with performances at festivals such as Wilderness, Palmaria released their second EP ‘Grow’ on 8th November 2019, selected as a Top 5 EP from Jamz Supernova, and launched it with a show at The Waiting Room (London) to celebrate it with their fans.
In April 2020, Palmaria released their single ‘Eden’ and were about to embark on their first US tour, cancelled due to the pandemic. The duo then decided to get back in the studio and recorded their EP ‘Crystallize’, which was released in November 2021 and was supported by a series of shows across Italy and the UK (Liverpool Sound City and London shows). Tracks from the EP were featured from publications such as Notion, Wonderland, Ones to Watch, KCRW and CLASH and playlisted by New Music Friday, POLLEN, Fresh Finds and many more. This support also led to a single release of their track ‘Lluvia’ through French Japanese label Kitsuné Musique.
In 2022, Palmaria signed a publishing deal with peermusic ITALY and released a series of singles who led the duo to gain over 2 Million streams, playing their London Headline Show at Paper Dress Vintage and being playlisted on Spotify's All New Indie, Indie Italia, Scuola Indie, Amazon's Novità del momento, Apple's Super Indie and NMD and many more.
During this time, the duo collaborated with brands such as Shure, Happy Socks, Lucy and Yak, Ogyre, Pirate Studios and Ford (via Sofar Sounds) and were awarded the Do it Differently Fund from Help Musicians UK. Together with designer Barbara Bologna, they created a silent concert event at the Paris Fashion Week.
They also co-wrote and released tracks with an array of artists such as Davide Shorty (Italy), Funk Shui Project (Italy), LOELASH (UK), Too Many T’s (UK), Moglii (Germany).
In 2023, the duo released 3 new singles, developing their unique mix of Italian and English in their lyrics, and played a series of festivals across Italy and Europe, also performing at the iconic Sziget Festival in Budapest and announced their first studio album "Ora".
The album revolves around the fears and fragilities of their generation and invites the audience to focus on the "here and now", as the only way to live life to the fullest.
